England defender Jonathan Woodgate has escaped a driving ban - thanks to 'Mr Loophole', Nick Freeman.
Mr Woodgate, 28, denied breaking a temporary speed limit in his Mercedes S65 by travelling at an average of 67.9 miles per hour and reaching speeds of up to 85 miles per hour in January this year.
The case was formally dismissed at a hearing at Teeside Magistrates' Court in Middlesbrough after a discrepancy in the length of the A66 near Long Newton, Stockton on Tees, came to light.
The westbound carriageway on which Mr Woodgate was travelling at the time was said in evidence to be 405 metres long, but the police speed check was stated as having been conducted over a distance of 519 metres.
Manchester-based Mr Freeman, who has successfully defended a client list including some of the UK's biggest sporting and television celebrities, said Mr Woodgate was delighted by the result.
