Sky Sports will screen Formula One next season after securing a deal with the BBC.
Under the new deal the BBC will be scaling back its coverage to half of the races and qualifying sessions live, with the remaining races covered by highlights and shown exclusively on Sky.
The announcement follows weeks of speculation that the corporation was planning to pull out of broadcasting the motorsport altogether due to costs.
Meanwhile, BBC Radio Five Live's coverage will be unaffected by the six-year deal, which will run from 2012 to 2018.
Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports, said: "This is fantastic news for F1 fans and Sky Sports will be the only place to follow every race live and in HD.
"We will give F1 the full Sky Sports treatment with a commitment to each race never seen before on UK television."
