Skoda posts record results

Czech car manufacturer Skoda has posted record sales results, breaking the one million deliveries milestone for the first time in its history.

The company, which first began making cars 120 years ago, saw global deliveries increase by 12.7%, to 1,037,200 vehicles.

Meanwhile, the group's worldwide market share rose to 1.4%.

Its CEO, Winfried Vahland, said 2014 represented "another good year" for the manufacturer.

He said the company had established itself as a "volume manufacturer", thanks to its modern model range.

And he added that it would continue to grow, with plans to increase sales in 2015.

The firm also posted record financial results, with sales revenue increasing 13.9% to 11.8 billion euros, up from 10.3 billion euros in 2013.

Meanwhile, its operating profits went up by 56.5%, to 817 million euros.
