Six charged with clamping blackmail

A lengthy inquiry into a wheel-clamping firm has led to six people being charged with conspiracy to commit blackmail, police have said.

After a joint investigation, which involved West Mercia Constabulary, Worcestershire's trading standards department and the Security Industry Agency, the charges against five men and a women were announced.

The activities of Redditch-based Midland Parking Contracts, now known as iWatch Security Services Ltd, which operated across the West Mercia, West Midlands, Gloucestershire and Warwickshire policing areas, were the focus of the inquiry.

Those charged, who have not been named, will appear before magistrates in Redditch next Tuesday.
