A couple have warned Sheffield Council about an accident blackspot after six cars skidded into their garden wall on the same day.
As the drivers contacted their car insurance company, Mrs Suter, 74, was on the phone to the council to ask for the road to be gritted as it was like a "skating rink".
It came as no surprise to the couple for a car to skid into the wall at their home in Intake, as they said it happens at least once a year during icy conditions, but the six incidents this year have left them stunned.
In the worst crash a car careered through the wall and stopped just inches from Anthony and Marina Suter's front window, forcing them to make their own home insurance claim because of the ungritted roads.
Mrs Suter said: "This is a serious matter and something needs doing about it.
"The road was not gritted and was like a skating rink. I was actually on the phone to the council when a people carrier came through."
Not only are the couple put at risk, but they say local schoolchildren are in danger as Sheffield Council has not made gritting a "priority".
