Silverstone to stage motorsport day

A special open day celebrating the world of motor sport is to be staged at Silverstone later this year.

Go Motorsport Live! - announced by the Motor Sports Association (MSA) - will showcase everything that the sport has to offer, from local motor clubs to future careers with a Formula One team.

The free event will take place on 7 July, just one week after the British Grand Prix, and the MSA is inviting grassroots clubs to get involved.

Visitors will be able to experience hot laps and rally rides around the famous circuit, even getting the chance to stand on the F1 podium.

Tours of the world famous facilities will also run throughout the day, allowing people to see what it's like to be a racing driver.

The Motorsport Industry Association, co-promoters of National Motorsport Week which runs from 29 June till 7 July, will be on hand to offer careers advice for those seeking employment within the world leading UK motor sport industry.

Budding young engineers will also enjoy special access to the Formula Student finals that are being staged at Silverstone over that weekend.
