It's sportier, it's more aggressive, it's even claimed to be more 'emotional'. The new three-door Seat Leon SC has been unveiled by Seat - proving that three can be just as good as five.
The new model boasts a shorter wheelbase (by 35mm) and a different side profile to distinguish it from the existing five-door Leon hatchback.
A sharper-raked rear windscreen gives it a sportier, more aggressive silhouette, say the manufacturers.
Otherwise, the new model is, on the surface, very similar to the existing five-door Leon. It shares the same range of petrol and diesel engines, and the wheelbase switch leaves the rear headroom or boot space unaltered.
The turbocharged petrol engine range begins with the 104bhp 1.2 TSI, with a 138bhp 1.4 and a 177bhp 1.8 above it. If you prefer diesels, there are 1.6-litre and 2.0-litre choices, with the 104bhp 1.6 TDI pushing out 99g/km of CO2 and the possibly even more splendid 2.0-litre with 148bhp which emits only 106g/km.
Seat vice president of research and development Dr Matthias Rabe called it the Leon family's 'sportiest and most emotional' member, adding: "It has the feel of a sports coupŽ, yet boasts an astonishing degree of functionality."
