The Highways Agency has revealed that roadworks on a number of motorways and A-roads will be suspended over Easter.
In a bid to ease the traffic congestion over this busy period, a total of 15 sets of roadworks and lane restrictions will be postponed.
The suspensions will be in place from 6am on April 5 until midnight on April 9, but some restrictions - on the M25, M1, M62 and M4 - will have to remain in place.
Meanwhile, roadworks at 272 English locations are set to be completed ahead of the bank holiday weekend.
Roads minister Mike Penning said: "I advise Easter holidaymakers, day trippers and anyone else planning to travel over the bank holiday weekend, to check weather and travel conditions before setting off."
