Fun-loving motorists should be driving the Renault Clio Renaultsport 200 Cup, according to the UK's most-read car buyer's guide.
The model was named best Fun Car in theWhat Car? Used Car of the Year awards on Monday. The judges selected it above all others, saying it is one of the best ever hot hatchbacks and a "hoot" to drive.
They heaped praise on Renault for setting the standards in the class once again, following the success of its Clio 16v and Clio Williams models. The judges' views were shared by the magazine's readers, who have voted the former Renaultsport 200 Cup as their Best Hot Hatch for three years in a row.
Not only is the power-packed Renault a fun car to drive, but it is a "total bargain" with average prices of £7,250, What Car? editor-in-chief Chas Hallett pointed out.
The judges favoured the Clio Renaultsport 200 Cup because of public opinion and its "sheer driver engagement". It can go from 0-60mph in 6.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 141mph thanks to its "high revving" 2.0-litre petrol engine and "lightning quick" six-speed manual gearbox.
The judges also liked the car's 34.4-mpg fuel economy, low repair costs in the event of abreakdown and five-star NCAP safety rating.
