The young driver who "gatecrashed" a race on a famous Kent motor racing track has been sentenced to eight months in prison.
A YouTube video showing how 22-year-old Jack Cottle entered Brands Hatch's 26-car Fun Cup in his girlfriend's car went viral, attracting over 2 million hits.
But Cottle is this week starting a jail term after being sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday. He also faces likely higher car insurance premiums if and when he returns behind the wheel.
The labourer endangered racers' lives by entering the circuit in his partner's Volkswagen Polo with a friend and the girlfriend aboard, the court heard.
The video footage shows Cottle repeatedly ignoring his girlfriend's frantic pleas to stop his foray onto the track.
Sentencing, Judge Martin Joy said that Cottle had put many lives in danger and called his antics "inexcusable" and "premeditated".
Cottle, of East Sussex's Wadhurst, had admitted the public nuisance offence at an earlier hearing.
