RAC to hold green driving challenge

In a bid to boost the popularity of eco-friendly vehicles on British roads, the RAC is planning to hold a Green Grand Prix at Silverstone next month.

Motorists will showcase their skills by vying for the award of the UK's most energy-efficient driver at the event on October 12.

And the impressive line-up of green vehicles taking part in the challenge will include the latest EV, plug-in hybrid and e-rev cars.

The participants will be put through eco-driving track tests on the Stowe circuit, and also a 14km road route driving assessment and eco-theory test.

As far as new generation vehicles are concerned, driver behaviour has a decisive impact on energy consumption.

Professionally trained instructors will be available on the site to help drivers with tips on throttle control, correct braking, use of gears and momentum to manage their driving efficiently.

Cheapcar insurance options are available in the market to boost the popularity of environmentally-committed vehicles.
