Porsche's new 2012 Cayman R has made its world debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show.
Featuring 55kg less weight than the existing Cayman S, the new model boasts a 3.4-litre, six-cylinder Direct Fuel Injection engine, producing 10bhp more - 330bhp in total.
With a standard six-speed manual transmission, thePorsche Cayman R sprints from a standstill to 62mph in just five seconds.
With the seven-speed dual-clutch PDK system, the exercise is reduced to 4.9 seconds.
Performance can be improved further with the optional Sport Chrono package, dropping zero to 62mph acceleration to just 4.7 seconds.
The driver-focused model utilises a sports suspension system that lowers the Cayman R by 20 mm, and also features a fixed rear spoiler for greater stability at the top speed of 175mph.
The new model - designed to offer the greatest Cayman driving experience to date - will be available from February 2011 at £51,731.
