The new Peugeot 208 GTi will cost from £18,895, the French manufacturer has announced.
The £18,895 on the road price is for the three-door version. It is unclear at the moment whether a five-door car will be offered.
The 208 GTi is lighter and lither than its predecessor, the 207 GTi, with a new turbocharged 1.6-litre engine.
The new model is also more economical than its predecessor, which should be a plus in the current economic climate.
The car has CO2 emissions of 139g/km and its fuel economy is expected to be over 40mpg.
Despite its economic credentials, the 208 GTi doesn't skimp on power. With 200bhp and maximum torque available from only 1,700rpm the hot hatch can hit 62mph in just 6.8 seconds.
The car will come with LED daytime running lights, half-leather sports seats, DAB digital radio and rear parking sensors as standard.
On the outside, it will feature model-specific 17-inch alloy wheels, red painted front and rear brake calipers, twin chrome exhausts and a body-coloured rear spoiler.
The car will be available to order from March 1, with deliveries are expected to start in the summer.
