An Austrian atheist has finally got his new driving licence, which shows him wearing a pasta strainer as religious headgear.
Niko Alm, who was curious to test the Austrian law that allows those photographed in official documents to wear headgear for religious reasons, sent the application with the photo in 2008.
The licence was issued to him after a long process which took three years.
He claimed that he was a "pastafarian" and wearing a sieve was a part of his religious faith.
A police spokesperson said that religion was never an issue in Alm's case. And that he got the licence only because his face was fully visible in the photo.
