Volkswagen's Passat Estate has scooped an award for the towcar of the year.
The 2.0 TDI 170 Bluemotion Sport version's towing ability was praised by judges from Practical Caravan, the Camping and Caravanning Club and What Car? Magazine.
Practical Caravan editor Nigel Donnelly said: "The Volkswagen Passat Estate tows brilliantly. It's a pleasure to drive and travel in, economical to run and easy to live with.
"It also provides unshakeable stability and responsive steering, which leaves drivers fresh, ready to unhitch and start enjoying their holiday."
The Towcar Awards is believed to be the UK's most challenging towcar test and this year, 50 cars were attached to caravans in order to help travellers choose the best ones.
Volkswagen's Golf 2.0 TDI Match 5dr also took top honours for the Up to 1,424kg category for the second consecutive year.
Other class winners included the Ford Mondeo Estate 2.0 TDCi, which won the 1,575-1,724kg category and the BMW 520d Touring SE in the 1,725-1,899kg category.
The Land Rover Discovery, the overall winner for 2010, picked up the 1,900kg and above category while Chevrolet's seven-seat Orlando 2.0 VCDi MPV won the Budget MPV category.
