'Panthermobile' to be auctioned

The original Pink Panther car - the Panthermobile - is to go under the hammer.

It is only the second time that the car, created in 1969 as part of the popular Pink Panther Show, has gone on sale.

Hollywood's master car designer, Jay Ohrberg, was responsible for building the car as well as other famous movie and television vehicles such as Michael Knight's talking car K.I.T.T, Back to the Future's DeLorean, both the 1966 and 1989 Batmobiles, and the Flintstones' car.

The one-of-a-kind pink car first went under the hammer in 2007, when it was bought for £88,000 by the current owner.

However, the car was repossessed after the current owner found it difficult to keep up the repayments.

At present the Panthermobile needs some restoration work. It is not road legal and does not come with a registration form.
