The brand new Volvo V40 range is aiming to dominate the premium hatchback market by combining low emissions and economy with a luxury feel.
As well as the standard V40, the sportier V40 R-Design is available with a dynamic chassis or an optional sports chassis and the V40 Cross Country is also on offer for those with the need for a more rugged vehicle.
A host of trim options are available on each and, crucially, they all have CO2 emissions under 100g/km, so managing director of Volvo Car UK Nick Connor says nobody has to compromise.
"Put simply, the V40 delivers unprecedented choice in the premium hatchback sector without compromise for the customer," he says.
And there is good news when it comes tocar insurance and breakdown cover as well as the V40 is the safest car in its class, having been awarded the highest ever score by EuroNCAP in recent crash tests.
Pioneering technologies like the first ever pedestrian airbag and Volvo's autonomous braking system, City Safety, which now qualifies for lower insurance premiums, mean the new V40 is one of the safest cars on the road.
