A new version of the Kia Soul, going from £12,600, offers a choice of two engines and five trim levels.
The engines on offer with the second-generation Soul are a 1.6-litre direct-injection petrol and a turbo-diesel option.
All model types are front-wheel-drive, five-door crossovers: Kia found that its customers don't fancy the fuel consumption and taxation which comes with four-wheel drive vehicles - but do like the look, semi-elevated driving position and perceived safety advantages of a 4x4.
C02 emissions are as low as 132kg/km, and fuel economy up to 56.5mpg on the diesel version.
And a fully electric version, the Soul EV, will come along towards the end of the year, which will have no tailpipe emissions.
The company boasts that the Kia Soul has a new chassis giving more dramatic SUV crossover styling, more space in a higher quality cabin, greater safety and sharper driving dynamics.
The EV is Kia's first global commercial EV.
