Toyota has unveiled its new 2013 Auris which focuses on emotion and driver appeal, according to the car maker.
The updated British-built compact hatchback is much more aggressive looking and distinctive than the previous model.
However it still offers traditional Toyota quality and reliability, the Japanese firm said.
Prices for the new Auris range, including the Active, Icon, Sport and Excel trims, will start from £14,995 when sales begin at the end of the year.
Changes to the new model include it being 30mm longer and 55mm lower than the previous Auris.
The boot is also bigger at 360 litres and wider for easier access, the car maker said.
The 1.4-litre D-4D diesel car's basic suspension layout has also been slightly revised and fine tuned.
And it can achieve 74.3mpg with 99g/km of CO2, while the 1.33 VVT-i petrol manages 52.3mpg and 125g/km of CO2, making them better for the environment and car insurance.
