An MP has been given a national award after battling to boost safety on two major roads in his constituency.
Andrew Griffiths, the MP for Burton and Uttoxeter in Staffordshire, has been recognised by the road safety charity Brake after successfully campaigning to lower the speed limit to 60mph on parts of the A38.
The campaign has also resulted in the closure of several gaps which previously enabled motorists to cut across the busy dual carriageway.
Speed limits on several other roads in the constituency - including the A50 - have also been lowered as a result of the MP's campaigns.
Mr Griffiths is now urging the Highways Agency to give the whole of the A38 in his constituency a 60mph speed limit, in a bid to reduce the number of accidents on the road.
And he also wants to see better speed limit enforcement on the A50.
