Forecasters have said that the wintry weather is to continue throughout Tuesday.
Motorists have been advised to take care on icy roads after heavy snowfall caused issues on roads across Scotland on Monday.
Drivers in the Highlands, Lanarkshire, Central Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway and Aberdeenshire may well have been thankful that they'd found the time to take outbreakdown cover after encountering snow-related problems on the roads.
Parents taking their children to school in some parts of Scotland also arrived to find that no lessons were being held due to the icy conditions.
Away from Scotland, people heading out in the car in parts of Yorkshire and the Midlands were also advised to be vigilant after severe weather warnings were issued for the areas.
Victoria Kettley, a forecaster for MeteoGroup, the weather division of the Press Association, said: "We also expect 2cm to 5cm of snow in many places in Scotland overnight, reaching up to 10cm across higher ground."
