A cross-party group of MPs and peers is calling on the Government to do more to help the UK's motor industry, in a bid to drive economic growth.
According to the report from the All-Party Parliamentary Motor Group, the Government should introduce new measures to help boost new-car sales.
It suggested that by portraying the industry as a forward-looking, growing and progressive sector, authorities can also attract new businesses as well as investment.
Stressing the importance of a successful automotive industry, the group said both economic and environmental factors should be considered while supporting the creation of low-carbon technologies.
There is also the need for a strategy to help collaborate with schools and colleges to make jobs in the sector more attractive.
The report is also urging the Government to publish an action plan highlighting how it intends to work with automotive firms to create more apprenticeship opportunities in the country.
It should also do more to strengthen its relationship with the motor industry to ensure economic growth.
