The new G-Class vehicles from Mercedes are set to include the range's most luxurious interiors yet and will feature a G63 AMG model for the first time.
Mercedes has earmarked its new 3.0-litre V6 diesel as the volume seller in the range, which includes one petrol and one diesel engine, with vehicles set to appear in showrooms from September after the G-Class's launch in autumn of this year.
The car maker has focused its efforts on reducing nitrous oxide emissions in the vehicles with an eye on lowering tax penalties in the USA.
The G-Class offers features such as internet connectivity and a navigation system with off-road functions, parking sensors, radar-guided cruise control and blind spot warnings.
The G-Class vehicles - which have a new feel that Mercedes describes as "fresh and classy" - have achieved 25.2mpg and 20.4mpg respectively in the European standard fuel economy tests.
