The Japanese motoring giant will call back as many as 2.3 million vehicles over potential problems with their rear doors.
The main issue is thought to be with the paint on the hydraulic arm holding the back door. The company found that if it is exposed to too much salt it could start to rust and stop working.
There is also thought to be a separate issue involving diesel engines.

Around 390,000 of the cars, including the hugely popular Mazda 3, CX-3 and CX-5 crossover SUV, originated in Japan.
Another 1.8 million come from various countries around the world, but the manufacturer has declined to provide further regional break downs. The company aims to repair the damper stays on their rear gates.
The affected vehicles were produced between December 2007 and December 2015, Mazda reports.
The company, which is Japan's fifth largest carmaker, also said that a domestic recall of around 110,000 vehicles would take place over computer problems.
These cars were produced between August 2014 and August 2016 and also include the Mazda 3 and CX-3. The computer problem seems to affect their diesel engines.

Mazda has sold around 1.5 million vehicles in the year ended March, mainly in North America.
This is not the only recall the company has recently faced. It also had to bring back vehicles after problems emerged with the Takata air bags.
This caused the company to post losses of $365.6 million in the quarter ending March 31.
To help customers out, the Japanese company has launched a recall information website.
Customers can input their vehicle identification number to find out if it needs to be recalled and can track the progress of the repairs.
