Man drove toy car after drinking

A man has been banned from driving for three years after being caught behind the wheels of a modified toy car while over the drink-drive limit.

Paul Hutton, 40, drove the white and pink electronically powered model Jeep along Brooklands, a road named after a motor racing circuit.

He pleaded guilty at Colchester Magistrates' Court, in Essex, to a charge of drink driving, a police spokesman said.

Police said Hutton, who had modified the toy, was given a conditional discharge for getting behind the wheel of the model after drinking too much.

But magistrates banned Hutton, who is from Jaywick in Essex, from the road after hearing he had a previous conviction for driving a real car while over the limit.

The spokesman said officers breath-tested Hutton after spotting the toy being driven shortly before 9pm.
