Readers of What Car? magazine have voted the Volkswagen Up their car of the year, in the magazine's annual awards.
What Car? editor-in-chief Chas Hallett said: "The Up combines refinement, quality, space and economy.
"It sets new standards for the £10,000 price bracket. It feels at home in town and copes admirably on the motorway - it is the right car for the time."
The Volkswagen Up was also awarded the magazine's safety award while the Volkswagen Golf was named best small family car for the fourth year in a row.
Audi also came away with three awards, with the TT being named best coupe, the TT Roadster taking the best open-top title and the A1 being awarded the title of best supermini.
Other winners included the Jaguar C-X16, due to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March, which was awarded the accolade of most exciting car for 2012.
