Volkswagen has announced that its new Up city car has been placed among the lowest car insurance rating groups.
Two models - the 1.0-litre 60PS Take Up and Move Up - are in the lowest possiblecar insurance category, 1E.
Customers opting for the 70PS High Up, Up White or Up Black variants will find them in group 2E.
The new Volkswagen Up comes with a five-star Euro NCAP rating, ABS and six airbags.
ESP (Electronic Stabilisation Programme) is standard on Move Up models and above.
Another safety feature is a city emergency braking system, which is part of an optional driver's assistance pack that costs from £225.
It is capable of automatically stopping the vehicle on noting that a crash could occur below 18mph.
The 60PS Take Up is available from £7,995 and the first UK customer deliveries are due in March next year.
