The mother of Hollywood star Lindsay Lohan has pleaded not guilty to charges of drink-driving and speeding.
Dina Lohan, 50, was released from the suburban New York courthouse with her driving licence suspended and she is due back in court on October 23.
She was arrested by state police on September 12 for allegedly speeding on Long Island, some nine miles from her Merrick home, with police saying her blood-alcohol level was more than double the legal limit of 0.08 at 0.20.
Defence lawyer Mark Heller said his client has no criminal record and she brought up four children as a single mother.
He said she is "painfully mindful of the gravity of her arrest for driving while intoxicated" and he expressed confidence that "the district attorney's office and the judicial system will temper justice with mercy".
Her arrest came just months after her 27-year-old actress daughter Lindsay Lohan completed her sixth stint in rehab for drug and alcohol abuse.
