Toyota has announced that around 3,200 Lexus cars in the UK are potentially affected by an engine fault, which might force the vehicles to suddenly stall while being driven.
The luxury models that could be hit by the safety problem include the Lexus GS 450h, GS460, LS460 and LS 600h.
Commenting on the issue, the Japanese car maker said: "Improperly functioning valve springs have been found in some Lexus engines and there is a small possibility that abnormal engine noise or unstable idling may occur.
"In very rare instances, there is a chance that the engine may stop. There have been no reported accidents related to this issue."
Although it was reported that Toyota may recall the Lexus models, a company spokeswoman said that no decision had yet been taken on it.
However, the car manufacturer said: "Lexus will do whatever it can to ensure that our customers' inconvenience is minimised as much as possible, decide on the details of any action, and inform our customers promptly."
Toyota was recently forced to recall more than 8.5 million vehicles worldwide due to a range of safety issues.
