A UK car owners' survey has rated Lexus and Toyota among the top five manufacturers, indicating their continuing popularity despite a series of recalls in recent months.
Lexus scored 846 points out of a possible 1,000 to emerge the No 1 for the 10th consecutive year in the survey by JD Power and Associates and What Car?, while Toyota occupied fifth place.
Lexus's RX and IS models were chosen the best sports utility vehicle and the best compact executive car respectively.
Toyota Aygo was rated the best city car, while its Yaris model joined the Honda Jazz to occupy the top spot in the small car category.
Honda, Jaguar and Mercedes-Benz were in the second, third and fourth places respectively in the manufacturers' list, according to the survey of more than 17,000 UK car owners.
The categories considered for the rating were vehicle appeal, which includes performance, design, comfort and features; vehicle quality and reliability; ownership costs, including fuel consumption, insurance and costs of service/repair; and dealer service satisfaction.
