A compact three-door model is Kia's latest addition to the popular Picanto supermini range.
It comes with two different engines and four trims. The entry-level three-door Picanto has a 68bhp 1.0-litre petrol engine and the basic trim.
The bigger of the two engines - a 1.25-litre petrol version that delivers 84bhp - also offers optional automatic transmission.
There are altogether five models in the new Picanto series. At the higher end are Halo and Equinox, which come with more power and luxury features.
For the first time since its launch in 2004, the Picanto gets a stylish three-door car targeted at motorists who want more than simple utility for their city vehicle.
Surveys show that 45% of UK drivers buying compact cars opt for models with three doors rather than five.
It may be a good time for Kia to cash in on this preference as well as the rising global demand for three-door superminis, which is expected to reach a million in the next four years.
