A classic car from the golden age of rallying is going under the hammer in February.
The 1977 Ford Escort MK2 RS1800 Gp4 has links with three members of the famous McRae driving family: Jimmy and his two sons, the late Colin and younger brother Alister.
Lovers of iconic vehicles can set theirjourney planners for Silverstone racing circuit in Northamptonshire on Saturday, February 22.
The model is being auctioned in the Race Retro category of the overall sale.
It was steered to victory by Jimmy in the 2006 Roger Albert Clark rally.
After that it carried on racing, claiming the championship win after many first place finishes in the "pre-1981" section of the 2007 British Historic Championship.
A year later, Alister piloted the Ford to top spot in its category as part of the Colin McRae Memorial Rally.
Colin, the inspirational 1995 World Rally Champion, tested the vehicle during its development, before his death in a helicopter crash in 2007.
In 2009 the car underwent rebuild and has since raced in the 2010 and 2011 Rally Cl‡sico Isla Mallorca.
The stunning auction lot even comes with an MoT and tax until May 2014.
