Honda unveils economical scooter

Honda's new PCX scooter is equipped with a 125cc engine that can achieve a staggering 130 miles per gallon, the manufacturer says.

The PCX125 is powered by a four-stroke engine and features under-seat storage for bikers to place a full-face helmet, while the Honda machine also comes with automatic twist-and-go transmission.

The new idle stop switch system helps the machine achieve the impressive economy figures.

When the idle stop switch is enabled, the engine will stop after three seconds of idling, but will restart automatically once the rider twists open the throttle again.

Honda believes the system on the PCX125, which is in showrooms at £2,270, improves economy by 5%.
