Honda has announced it is recalling more than 126,000 City and New Fit car models in Brazil due to possible problems with the acceleration pedal mechanism.
According to the car firm, the recall involves 126,774 cars made in the South American country between May 2008 and October 2010 and sold only in Brazil.
The Japanese auto maker said that the announcement follows a report of an accident related to the defect, in which no-one involved was injured.
Honda said the entry of dust particles inside the accelerator pedal's sensor may cause the controls in some cases to get stuck, leading to problems in reducing the speed of the car and increasing the risks for accidents.
It said the problem would be fixed by placing a cover to prevent particles from getting in the pedal.
