The Women's World Car of the Year committee awarded the Honda Civic the best car in the economy car category at the Paris Motor Show 2012.
Second place in the economy category went to the Volkswagen UP, while third place was won by Ford Fiesta.
A panel of 20 women judges from 11 countries nominated 300 cars for the award won by the Honda Civic.
The judges for the Women's Car of the Year evaluated the Civic against criteria women think about when purchasing an automobile, including safety, value, appearance, driving ease, storage space, environmental footprint, child friendliness, colour and sex appeal. For any car purchase it is important to consider car insurance.
The top prize for the Honda Civic follows the car-maker's news about additions to the Civic line of cars, including a new 1.6-litre i-DTEC engine that will be available later this year, a new wagon-style Civic model and a new Civic Type R to be introduced in 2015. All of these additions are for Europe.
The Director of Honda Motor Europe Car Division, Toshiaki Konaka, received the award from judges Henny Hemmes and Sandy Myhre on the Honda stand at the Paris Motor Show.
