The first pictures of the plug-in hybrid Golf GTE have been released by Volkswagen.
Expected to make its debut at theGeneva Motor Show , the new Golf GTE is said to contain a mixture of the benefits of electric driving with the dynamics of a Golf GTI.
Hybrid power means there are now five drive types available for the Golf, with the others being petrol, diesel, natural gas (not available in the UK) and electric.
The Golf GTE, which stands for Gran Turismo Electricity, boasts a 102 PS electric motor and a 1.4-litre 150 PS TSI direct-injection petrol engine. The combined output of the two produces power of 204 PS and a theoretical range of about 580 miles, giving plenty of scope to use ourjourney planner .
A nod to fuel efficiency has also been made in the vehicle's specifications, which boast a combined cycle figure of 188 mpg and CO2 emissions of 35 g/km, based on provisional data.
