Ford to auction charity cars for 1p

Car manufacturer Ford is to hold seven auctions around the country, raising money for new partner Cancer Research UK in the process.

At each of the events, one vehicle will have a starting price of just 1p, with the winning bidder able to part exchange their current vehicle or arrange finance for the final price.

The proceeds from the sale will go towards Cancer Research UK.

The opening event will be held at Dagenham Motors in Edgware from 6pm on the 19 February.

There will also be events at Dagenham Motors Ripple Road; Heartlands Ford, Erdington; Brunel Ford, Ashton; Lindsay Ford Lisburn and Polar Ford, Huddersfield.

Caroline Silke, head of corporate partnerships at Cancer Research UK, said the money raised will help fund pioneering research aimed at beating cancer.

She said: "We always try and encourage our supporters to find fun and inventive ways to raise funds for the charity and Ford Retail have certainly taken that on board with this event."
