Ford has announced that it has extended the availability of its PowerShift transmission which uses electronically controlled twin-clutch technology, offering it on six different models.
Initially launched in theFord Focus and C-Max, the PowerShift - which has been designed to challenge the performance and fuel economy of a manual gearbox - has been extended to Kuga, Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy.
For the Mondeo, S-Max and Galaxy, the PowerShift is fitted as standard to the new and advanced 2.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine.
All six models can also have the gearbox specified with a 2.0-litre diesel engine, with resulting CO2 emissions dropping to as low as 149g/km.
It allows drivers to use a full automatic or a sport automatic mode or they can select gears manually.
While in the manual mode, driver can shift gear quickly and smoothly by moving the lever forwards or backwards, the sport mode offers a sportier shift pattern for more dynamic performance.
