The Ford Mondeo 2.0 TDCi Zetec five-door has been honoured with the Used Car of the Year title by What Car? magazine.
A panel of judges described the vehicle as near-faultless. Meanwhile, the Ford Focus 1.6 TDCi 90 Style five-door was named the best green car.
The Vauxhall Corsa won the best used supermini award, while the Zafira was honoured with the MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) title and the Vectra Estate took the best estate vehicle award.
The Kia Cee'd was voted the best small family car, while the Land Rover Discovery 2.7 TDV6 SE was named the best 4x4.
Mercedes-Benz S320 CDI emerged as the best executive and luxury car and the Porsche Boxster 2.7 was honoured with the best used sports car title.
Steve Fowler, What Car? editor-in-chief and Used Car of the Year judge, said: "It's hard to find fault with the Ford Mondeo - especially at the price.
"It's a comfortable cruiser for covering motorway miles, yet it's still great fun to drive and makes an extremely capable family car. There's loads of cabin space, and it's solid and well put together."
