Ford models escape congestion duty

Owners of low-CO2 emitting Ford vehicles that use Econetic technologies will benefit from the new zero London Congestion Charge regulations coming into effect in January.

Under the the new Greener Vehicle 100% Discount starting January 4, vehicles with CO2 emissions of 100g/km or less that also fulfil the air quality conditions for the Euro 5 standard are exempted from the congestion charge.

Ford's Fiesta and Fiesta Van Econetic models emit 98g/km CO2.

Jon Wellsman, sales director, Ford of Britain, said: "Ford offers a large range of cars and commercial vehicles and I am delighted that they include vehicles which will be exempt from the London Congestion Charge.

"Even more exciting is the introduction of our zero-emission Transit Connect Electric in 2011 and Focus Electric in 2012."

The congestion charge discount criteria will be reconsidered again in 2012.
