Sales of the latest Ford Fiesta have hit the one million mark in Europe, according to the car manufacturer.
The latest version of the supermini achieved the landmark in just 28 months of its launch.
Ford said UK customers have a major role to play in the achievement, accounting for a quarter of all sales worldwide. British drivers have snapped up 239,742 models of the new Fiesta.
In Europe, the car is manufactured at the company's assembly plants in Cologne, Germany and Valencia, Spain.
Since its launch in 1976, the Fiesta has clocked up 14 million sales in Europe. The vehicle also boasts a top crash test rating.
