Footballer charged for child in car

Celtic footballer Charlie Mulgrew and his wife Alana have been charged under section 12 of the Children and Young Persons Act following a report alleging the couple left a child unattended in a car.

The charges have been made after Ultimo lingerie businesswoman Michelle Mone accused the couple of leaving a child in the vehicle in extremely cold temperatures.

The youngster, who had been waiting in the vehicle in a Costco car park in Glasgow on December 22, was then found by officers who had been called, a Strathclyde Police spokesman said.

The spokesman has also confirmed that the 24-year-old football star and his 22-year-old wife face charges as a result of a report submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

The Procurator Fiscal in Glasgow has received such a report about the said December 22 incident and is currently holding it under consideration, a Crown Office spokesperson has confirmed.
