Uniroyal Products has come up trumps in tyre tests conducted by a leading consumer association.
The Belgian firm's RainSport 2 and its newly launched RainExpert have been named Which? Best Buys, while the RainSport 2 tyre also received a Which? exceptional value gong.
The consumer group said the RainSport 2 tyre equalled a leading premium competitor in the 205/55 R16W test, but motorists could buy four RainSport 2's for the price of three of the competitor's.
Experts from Which? added: "The tyre has good all-round grip, handles well in wet and dry conditions and resists aquaplaning well on the straights and in bends."
Uniroyal, a subsidiary of Continental AG, only launched its RainExpert on the UK market in January but the tyre has already taken a Which? Best Buy accolade in the 185/60R14 H test.
Scott Benbow, product manager for Uniroyal, said: "This is a great endorsement for the Uniroyal brand. Both the RainExpert and the RainSport 2 deliver outstanding performance and give motorists greater safety in wet conditions when it is most needed.
"The Which? Best Buys and the comments about wet weather performance are a great way to celebrate 40 years of the rain tyre."
