Ford's new Fiesta 1.0-litre EcoBoost has been named the 2013 Women's World Car of the Year.
The car won praise for both its stylish exterior and fuel efficiency from a panel of 18 female motoring writers.
They said its "high-end look and feel" helped the Fiesta beat off competition from other finalists including the Audi Allroad, Range Rover and the Porsche Boxster S.
The Fiesta also won the title of economy car of the year.
Judges were impressed with its environmental credentials, including the 1.0-litre EcoBoost engine with CO2 emissions as low as 99g/km. The car also boasts Ford's new MyKey technology, which allows parents to limit their teenager's exposure to risk at the wheel and encourage safer driving.
Barb Samardzich, vice president of product development at Ford of Europe, said: "The new Fiesta has raised the bar to offer a sharper-looking, better-connected car that is even more fuel efficient and fun to drive. By tuning into the needs of all our customers we are ensuring this small car with the big history has a very bright future."
