Major roadworks across Yorkshire could cause disruption to the Christmas getaway for thousands of motorists.
Highways England has announced that sections of the M1, M18 and M62 in the region will be affected over the festive period, which is one of the busiest times of the year on the roads.
The southbound exit slip road at Junction 42 of the M1 at Lofthouse Interchange will be closed overnight for carriageway repairs until December 23, as will the southbound carriageway from Junction 36 to 37 at Barnsley.
Both closures will take place between 8pm and 6am, with diversion routes in place for drivers.
The hard shoulder of the M1 between Junction 41 and 42 is closed in both directions as part of the smart motorway scheme, with a 50mph speed limit in place until the project is finished in the new year.
On the M18, the east bridge at Junction 3 near Doncaster will be closed overnight until December 23, preventing access to the southbound M18 from the A6182. The closures will take place between 8pm and 6am.
The hard shoulder is also closed in both directions as part of the smart motorway scheme, with a 50mph speed limit until the project is completed in winter 2016.
There are narrow lanes and a 30mph speed limit at Junction 26 of the M62 at Bradford, as part of a project to add an extra lane to the roundabout at the junction which is due for completion in autumn next year.
The westbound side of the carriageway from Junction 22 to 23 will also be reduced to a single lane overnight until December 23, with the closures between 8pm and 6am.
Motorists travelling in and around Yorkshire over the Christmas period are urged to plan their journey beforehand.
