A new Ferrari-based theme park will open near Barcelona, it has been announced.
The Italian sports car manufacturer has agreed to lend its name to the attraction, which will be called Ferrari Land and constructed by by InvestIndustrial - a venture capital company that invested in Aston Martin last year.
The attraction will be the second Ferrari theme park, following Abu Dhabi's Ferrari World, which opened in 2010 and features rides like the Formula Rossa rollercoaster and V12 log-flume, where visitors journey into a 12-cylinder Ferrari 599 engine.
The new park, which is scheduled to open in 2016, will be smaller than the Abu Dhabi version at 75,000 square meters.
It will boast Europe's highest and fastest vertical accelerator as well as the first Ferrari-themed hotel, which will be shaped to resemble an F1 front wing. The five-star hotel will have 250 rooms and a driving simulator.
Andrea Perrone, CEO of Ferrari Brand, said: "After the success of Ferrari World in Abu Dhabi, we received many, many requests to develop new amusement parks.
"We decided to accept Investindustrial's because it is a very solid plan developed by competent people."
Mr Perrone said that the company was also looking at other proposals for theme parks outside Europe. The Û100 million attraction will be built within the popular PortAventura theme park, which is owned by InvestIndustrial.
