Sports car manufacturer Ferrari has introduced its new 458 Spider equipped with a retractable hard top.
The roof of the supercar is capable of folding itself down into a space ahead of the engine bay in 14 seconds.
Made of aluminium, the hard-top roof offers a number of advantages over the traditional folding soft-top, including a reduction of 25 kg in weight compared to the fabric option.
Fully integrated into the styling of the car, the hard-top was designed to fit neatly ahead of the engine bay without compromising the aerodynamics or the performance of the car.
This also enables the car to have a generous rear bench for luggage behind the seats.
Another important feature of the convertible car is an electrically adjustable wind stop for maximum comfort while driving with the top down.
It is designed to slow and diffuse the air in the cockpit, enabling normal conversation to be held even at speeds over 124mph.
