Ford's Transit Connect Electric, the first electric van in the UK, has demonstrated its abilities at the Bridgestone Eco Rally.
Two Connect Electrics covered 77 miles as they set out from Oxford, tackled motorways and wove through heavy traffic before completing their journey in London's Pall Mall.
One of the vans is a production model Ford has now launched on the market for the price of £39,995.
The distance covered during the fifth edition of the annual rally stretched the range limit of the Connect Electrics.
Just one hour-long charging stopover was made throughout the journey as a precaution, although the vans made small publicity halts along the way.
The Connect Electric was shown to be ideal for slow-moving traffic conditions, although on motorways the van experienced some difficulties because of its speed limitations.
Norway's postal service is the first European customer for Ford's fully-electric vans, which are well-suited for the frequent stops and small routes that mail distribution calls for.
