A mother has been caught drink-driving at her children's school after their head teacher realised she was drunk.
Catherine Holt, 39, parked her car across the road in front of Horsington Primary School near Wincanton obstructing traffic and she was then seen staggering onto the school grounds to collect her children.
Concerned headteacher Ian Rumbelow noticed her strange behaviour and took her into a classroom where he realised she was drunk from the strong smell of alcohol on her breath.
Mr Rumbelow called the police who arrested Holt, of Thornwell Way in Wincanton, Somerset, after finding her to have 118mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath, when the legal limit is 35mg.
Holt, who was making the afternoon school run at the time, appeared before South Somerset magistrates and admitted driving with excess alcohol. She told the court that she is now seeking help with her alcohol problems.
The judge issued an interim driving ban until sentencing but said she may face a custodial sentence over the incident.
