A pile-up on the M1 involving five heavy goods vehicles has prompted a warning to rush-hour drivers to avoid the section concerned.
Nottinghamshire Police said two drivers, one of them badly hurt, had to be cut free from their vehicles by fire service personnel at the scene just north of Trowell Services.
Such incidents act as a reminder to all road users to make certain they are ready for the unexpected, which, in the case of most drivers, means taking out the necessarycar insurance cover.
The stretch of road concerned, which was closed for investigation and recovery of the vehicles, lies between junctions 25 and 26 on the northbound carriageway.
Motorists were advised to take other routes until further notice. The southbound carriageway was not affected by the incident.
